United Trains Year-Round on any one of SYC'S FIVE LIGHTED TURF FIELDS.
The Year-Round Player Development Program includes:
- Hosting 'off-season' Round-Robin Scrimmages against the NATION'S BEST SIDES (including Jan/Feb 2012=MSC Coyotes Green[National Champions!], FCVencl [National Top 10], PFA Swarm [MD Powerhouse], ARL Rowdies Red [StateCup Final 4] & u15 Athletica [older competition]) - Intensive Foot-speed Development, both cone and ladder-work (Dec-Feb) - Total-Body Fitness, including specific injury-prevention focus with yoga (Year-Round) - Competitive Turf Indoor, without using the walls (Feb-March) - Super-Y (Summer 2011) // Mid-Summer Tournament Play & Tuesday Night Under the Lights (Summer 2012) - 5day/15hour Team Camp, planned & taught by the Head Coach (August) - 2012's camp finishes with an overnight at UVA, including a coach tour and game at Klockner! - Watching 1 Top-Level Match per week on Television, incl. Individual Player Analysis (Year-Round) - that's over 100 hours per year! - Customized, Written Player Dev't Plans for each player, 50-point Coach/Player/Parent Conference Evaluations (Jan & July) - Private 1-on-1 Goalkeeper Training, coordinated and integrated with Team Training (Year-round!) - Technical Skills Benchmarking, employing the Head Coach's own Project 50 Methodology (Year-Round) - Periodic Rules-Compliant Training Sessions with College Coaches (2012 included training with 2 local D1 coaches AND a campus tour by another D1 coach!) - Constant Social Media "buzz" maintained on the team's private Facebook Page, including each player's workout updates, weekly SocceronTV listings, and a constant stream of "snapshots!" - Positive, Constructive Feedback for each individual player (Year-Round!)
Head Coach Nationally Licensed Coach (NSCAA Adv'd Nat'l, USSF B) Stu Pierson maintains a long-term commitment to the Pride. With nearly twenty years head coaching experience, his teams have enjoyed great success, winning championships at multiple levels, including the semipro Hispanic Leagues, boys & girls high school (twice voted DAC Coach of the Year), and travel. Coach Pierson's coaching "network" results in regular visits and guest training sessions from some of Northern Virginia's most respected professionals, including local college coaches.
Assistant Coach Nationally Licensed Coach (NSCAA Goalkeeper I&II, USSF D) Coree Reuter conducts weekly goalkeeper training for the United and Fire keepers, provides match & training coverage when needed, and, as a former college player, offers valuable mentoring and advice. Coach Reuter is pursuing her Masters Degree to become an Athletic Trainer at Shenandoah University, where she formerly served as an assistant for the womens soccer staff.
SYC Pride United maintains a close partnership with her sister team, SYC Pride Fire (WAGS4) also coached by Stu Pierson and Coree Reuter.
SYC Pride United encourages and welcomes players wishing to compete at the Premier Elite level to guest train with the team. Players (born on/after 8/1/1997) wanting to “Guest Train” with the United should email Coach Pierson at pi ... @gmail.com with an indication of interest as well as a brief player history, including playing experience, position played, and other achievements, such as WAGS Division played and/or ODP.
